Seize the Summer

Veo, Veo, I See You

ABOUT THE STORY

We all know about the state-imposed lockdowns of the year 2020. Back then my freelance work allowed me to stay safe at home. Others were not as lucky. I witnessed how caregivers at my mother’s assisted living could not miss a day of work. And I saw my husband go to work along many other health providers in difficult and dangerous circumstances. During long walks around the neighborhood I saw handmade signs go up in front of houses. These signs, some of which were created by children, publicly thanked essential workers. And the idea for this book was born: to celebrate essential workers in a joyful way, making them visible to the youngest children through the game of Veo, Veo (I Spy). You can Pre-order now!

TEacher’s Guide and Activity kit

Educators, be the first to download the comprehensive teacher’s guide for the book. And print out the activity kit so children can create their very own VEO, VEO, I SEE YOU collage just like Marisol and Pepito in the book. Your children can also honor the essential workers of their own home and/or school community. Then, snap a photo, share it on social media, and tag me!
